Skate Night

Tonight was skate night for the middle school kids,so Chelsea and some of here girl friends headed over to the skating rink. Now Chelsea isn't a very good skater, but being out with her girl friends she was just as happy as she could be.Even though she fell a few times she was smiling and laughing the whole time.I'm so blessed to have wonderful children .

MOPAR CLASSIC

This past Sunday me and Josh went down to Archbold Ohio for the last race of the year. The weather was fabulous 80 degrees and sunny. This was our only oval race of the year and the kid was fast right out of the trailer,he finished 2 ND in the 2 heat races. The feature came with Josh on the outside pole ,with the drop of the green flag Josh got the lead.It was a 15 lap shoot out and Josh wasn't going down with out a fight he lead till half way when he got a nudge and got loose and slipped to second. He stayed on the leader trying to get under him but ran out of laps finishing second. For only racing once this year on an oval we were pretty happy, and MAN CAN THAT KID DRIVE!

apple lumkin festival

We had beautiful weather in the low 80's this weekend for the apple lump kin festival. With over 5 thousand people from miles around came to Tecumseh to browse and buy the arts and crafts and also eat some of the great food that was there. This event went on the entire weekend, with over 200 booths and food vendors there. They also had many different live bands playing all weekend ,with people off all ages attending the festival it was a great family event. In fact this was the biggest to date in Tecumseh and next year will surely be bigger and better.

indian summer

The weather here is beautiful low 70's ,the trees are turning colors this is a wonderful time of year. The only problem is this is only suppose to last the weekend and will be colder through out next week back to the 50's.Well in Michigan the weather changes by the day and unfortunately winter is fast approaching so we enjoy it while we have it.

GRAND NATIONALS

This past weekend me and Joshua went down to Camden Ohio for the last national race for the season, THE GT MACHINE RUSSELL COLD CUP GRAND NATIONALS. We struggled in Friday practice pretty much the slowest in our class.Saturday we qualified last out of 10,but the rain came and and we put on our rain tires to race.Joshua drove his heart out and in the rain and had a 5Th place finish in the first class, and the second class he ran he also finished 5Th.MAKING THE PODIUM THAT DAY IN BOTH CLASS'S!!! It was awesome for him to come up threw the pack and beat some of the best in the country. You only get awards 1st thru 5Th.Sunday we raced in the dry with cold temperature's 50 degrees we ended up 6Th and 8Th that day.We had higher hopes for a better finish but racing is tough, all in all we had a lot of fun !

happy days

Well since Joshua decided to quit football his mood and attitude has shot right up.Hes happy when he gets home from school and that makes me happy. You know I was bummed out when he quit, but seeing how happy he is I'm glad he did.I realize he has to live his life and not for me to push him into something he doesn't want to do.

Joshua quits

Its with a sad heart Joshua went and quit the football team today. After 3 months of practicing and 4 games Joshua decided to call it quits,I cant blame him hes been in only 5 plays in 4 games. He used to love football, but now he says he hates it.It all stems from playing time which is none, not even in practice. The coach told him had guts just no size ,which is bull ---- ! Well its there loss and Joshua will succeed .I love him and will always be behind him.

Indians homecoming

Joshua 's freshman team faced the Dexter Dreadnought's this past Thursday and played a tough game losing 27 to 26.It came down with 3 minutes to go with Dexter with the ball down 17 to 26,they moved the ball easily down the field against a tired Tecumseh team. They threw the ball for a 20 yard touch down and went for the 2 point conversion winning by 1 point.Maybe if the coach would play more than 14 players he could keep the team fresh,he does have 42 kids on the team.

clyde sreet race

This past Sunday me and Josh went to Clyde Ohio for the 19Th annual street race in the streets of downtown Clyde. We were ran 2 classes that day and were fast off the trailer,he started 4Th in the feature and got to 3rd. But Josh got in a crash in the 3rd lap ,dropping him back to 8Th.He managed to get back up to 4Th with 2 laps to go and had his brakes fail and he spun out which ended the day.The other class he started 2Nd for the feature but had carburetor trouble and pulled off the track. It was disappointing having the finishes we had but we were fast enough to win.

rainy Saturday

With the cool weather in the last week it looks offical fall is here.Where did the summer go,it was the hottest summer I can remember.Im just not ready for the cold, today is rainy and 60 degrees.I hope we have an Indian summer before the cold sets in.One thing in Michigan it can be 90 today and 50 tomorrow, you never know what the weather can be.That is Michigan living.

road trip

After Josh's football game this afternoon,me and the family will be heading down to southwest Georgia to see my mom. This is a 14 hour drive that I hate , but I love to get there and see and visit all my kin folk.I used to spend every summer as a kid down there and stay with my aunt Janie and my grandma.I have some very special memories with my aunt's and uncle's and my grandma Moe Beanie.I sure loved my grandma and I'm even tearing up as I type this, someday when God calls me home I will see her again.I hope my kids will cherish their time we spend down there with their grandma because you just don't know how many visits you will have. This will be a short trip 3 days but we will make it the best 3 days ever with their grandma.

school suplies

Can you believe what it cost for school supplies? I just spent 90 dollars on Josh for his ,Chelsea's was 80 dollars. Now they did get new back packs to but still that's a lot of money. After new school clothes ,shoes etc... the amount will be closing in on a thousand dollars. That's crazy! I hope I find a job soon.

tubing at the lake

On Sunday afternoon me and the kids went to my buddy's house to go swimming and tubing on the lake.It was 94 degrees and the sweat was just pouring off you.So we loaded up on the pontoon boat and all ten of us motored off across the lake to the deep hole, which is about fifty feet deep and set anchor. We all dove and jumped in to the most refreshing water I ever felt. After and hour or so of swimming around it was time to go back to the dock and trade in the pontoon to the master craft ski boat too due some tubing.Man we had 4 tubes tied on with 5 kids being pulled behind the boat,me and Chelsea sat in the boat while Josh and his 4 buddy's had a ball getting zipped around the lake and occasionally getting flung off.It was one of the highlights of the summer for sure and having fun with my kids is what its all about.

Indian's go down hard !

Yes yesterday was Josh's first game which he didnt get to play(that sucks),and which he should have. The Indians starters played horrible and scored only once while the other team scored 4 times. It was a beat down on the Indians until 5 minutes to go when the coach got his head out of his but and put in the 2nd string line which scored in 3 plays. The 2nd string defense stopped there drive in 4 and out,the 2nd string offense returned again and drove the ball down the field and the clock ran out with the score 28 to 14. I hope the coach can clear his obscured mine that big is not always better and playing only 12 kids when you have 42 might makes some sense to keep fresh kids on the field. Its very hard for me not to burst out and voice my opinion at the game which I didnt yesterday, but if they are coached like that again look out!

Indian football

The freshman team has its first game tomorrow at 4 pm at home. They will be playing Jefferson which is out of the Detroit area I think. My son Joshua is playing right guard and is the #2 or 3 guy in that position which they have 5 kids total at right guard.I hope he gets to play but its not looking good,at practice today only the # 1's were running plays. Its suppose to be a beautiful day tomorrow and it will be great to go out as a family and root Josh and the Indians on.GOOOOOOOOOO Indians !!!!!

computer blues

Well if anyone has kids you know how they love their video games, but it so happens computers and internet video games do not always get along. That evil web kens web site took out 2 of my laptops this past week.My daughter loves playing games there but as of now and forever no more.I dont understand why people would want to harm you computers, there are some people in this world that will be going to a bad place when their time is up on earth. So hopefully from here on my computers will be up and running with no one allowed to play games on them.Thats what the wii and the playstation 3 are for right.

little fish

Yesterday me and the kids went to the community center pond to do a little fishing. It was a nice sunny day and the tempeture was a pleasent 83 degrees the water was calm and clear. Now when you go shore fishing especialy at this place your not looking for the state record fish ,just action and boy did we get some. Right off the bat as soon as the worm hit the water FISH ON ! Yeah sure the fish was only 4 inches long ,but hey kids have a lot more fun when there reeling them fish in no matter what the size. After a hour or so we were out of worms and the fishing had slowed down, the kids had a blast. I loved to see my kids having fun and smiling, laughing this was surely one of the best times of the summer and were coming back neck time with more worms.

qualifying day

At 10 am this morning me and the family pulled into one of the fastest nascar tracks on the circuit,MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY.Yes at our household we are NASCAR FANS,each one in the family has their favorite drivers and we hollar and hoot when they come around. Its big fun hearing them engines scream past us smelling the gear lube and racing fuel theres nothing like big time racing. But my goodness it was soooo hotttt today you just felt the sun cooking you like and egg in a skillet. We toughed it out for and hour in the grandstands and called it.I dont know if its because im getting old or what, but real hot weather doesnt agree with me anymore.WOW it was hot !So we did our walk around the track seen the souvinier trailers and trucked it back home to the air condition to watch it on tv.

nascar

This weekend the BIG BOYS roll in to the IRISH HILLS at Michigan International Speedway.Yep Nascar is racing Sunday and the heat is turning up a notch as 200,000 fans come up to see some great racing.Friday is the day me and the family go up to watch qualifying, which the track is just 20 minutes away.Kids can get in free and adults is only 10 bucks each, that is a awesome low buck event to see the biggest names in racing and here them 800 plus horsepower motors scream at 200 miles per hour.It supposed to be in the 90's all weekend and high humidity also,so the cold beverages will going down real good, and the grill will be popping off some fine brats, burgers and some of my famous t bone steaks! COLD BEER,GREAT FOOD,AND FAST CARS THATS A RECIPE FOR A GREAT AFTERNOON.

football practice is offical

Its offical football practice has begun ! Monday was the first offical day with helmets and contact.42 kids are on the freshman team with Josh at 5 foot 3 tall the 3rd shortest on the team. Every player weighs in before practice and Josh tipped the scales at 152 pounds, after practice which was 3 hours long Josh and the rest of the team weighed in again. This time Josh came in at 150 pounds. The purpose of weighing in before and after practice is to maintain or increase their weight.Of course you should be lighter after practice, but the next practice back to where you started or more. The coaches told the parents and the kids eat ,and eat a lot while drinking 1 to 2 gallons of water per day.Hopefully for Josh he can cut about 20 pounds and be quicker we will see how it gos.

parent meeting

Just yesterday we had the annual parent football meeting for this years Indian Football.Last year it was 100 dollars to play ,this year 165 dollars . WOW ! I cant believe this, how can family's afford this. Not to mention Josh has to sell twenty athletic cards that are twenty dollars each, and also purchase 25 to 50 dollar fan booster stuff. Where to does it stop ! Every time you turn it's more money, is this like this every where? On another note talking to Josh's coach before the meeting,he said Josh is a hard worker and gives 110 percent on the practice field he just wish's he was taller he;s 5 foot 3. Josh's team has 42 kids and 35 are bigger than him,but no one gives any more effort than him.Hopefully he will get playing time.

summer time blues

Back on May 11Th I had lost my job due to my plant closing.Until today Ive been upbeat and optimistic that a good job would present itself.Today however for whatever reason Ive been feeling down and restless,Ive been doing lots of things with the kids to stay busy and putting in resumes when someone is hiring.I guess because Ive heard from no one on the resumes Ive put in I'm getting uneasy about my situation.I'll just keep praying and keeping the faith in God and I know things will turn out right.

cedar point

Thursday me and the family traveled back to Sandusky Ohio again to go to the best amusement park in the world.CEDAR POINT ! If your in to roller coasters this is it ! The tallest ,the fastest, the most thrilling coasters on the planet ! And yes they have a cool water park to.On this day it was about 100 degrees with the heat index,so we decided this trip will spend at the water park. And boy i'm glad we did ,cause I don't think I could have stood in lines for the rides in that heat.Me and the wife spent most of the time in the lazy river floating along and just relaxing. The kids were all over the park going down all the different water slides and hitting the wave pool. Don't plan feeding 7 people cheap there though,a coke, hamburger, fries $15 bucks ! WOW !! THAT'S A WALLET BUSTER ! So we left the park to eat lunch at the $5 buffet 6 miles down the road! Man that was the best food since I ate at my mommas a couple months ago.I think we need to go to mommas more often, but she doe's live 900 miles away. Anyway next trip to Cedar Point we will ride the coasters, and will make sure its on a cooler day!

Hy-Miler Nationals

This past weekend was the Hi-Miler Nationals at Sandusky Speedway,in Sandusky Ohio. This is a 3 day event starting on Thursday night which was dollar night ,a dollar to get in for the races a dollar for hot dogs and drinks.Racing that night were streetstocks, pony cars and champ karts on the asphalt half mile.People look forward to this race all year long as this is BIG ONE for the year, people come from as far as New York camping out for the weekend, cooking out and drinking plenty of ice cold beer. In fact the heat index was near 100 degrees for the 3 day event but the stands were packed all 3 days.Friday the 305 sprint cars were on the track for some awesome racing, but the rain came right before the features were run. They ended up running the features the next morning.Saturday night was the BIG SHOW that everyone came for THE SUPER MODIFIEDS ,these are 900 horsepower 1600 pound cars. They're like indy cars on steroids,24 cars started the 100 lap feature and let me tell ya when they take the green flag IT 'S ON! These cars are the fastest race cars on earth, if you never seen this cars you owe it to your self to see them in action. The engines are big blocks maximum 460 cubic inches, fuel injected running on methanol. There is nothing like em ,after 100 laps they were 10 left racing, with the winner number 78 from Canada winning the show. This was my second time going and my wifes first time and we both agreed this is going to be a family tradition.

football camp

This is the time of year FOOTBALL CAMP started Monday. Joshua is a freshman this year playing football for the Mighty Indians, the Indians play smash mouth football.Which is line up shoulder to shoulder and run the ball down your throat, they might throw a dozen times a game that's it.They started playing this kind of ball three years ago when Tecumseh got a new Varsity head football coach.Tecumseh's record has only been mediocure since they started playing this kind of ball, and if this year's record doesn't improve I think the coach will be replaced. Anyway Joshua's freshman team has 42 players as of now, unfortunealy for Josh there's 37 players bigger than him.Now Josh is no small thing he's 5 foot 3 140 lbs,I would say the average kid on his team is 5'10" 160 pounds. They do have around ten kids over 6 foot tall well over 200 pounds. I told Josh give your all and hit them on their butts,be a play maker and you'll be a starter on the team.Josh is a good player but he needs to get mean on the field, but if you know Josh he's the most respectful, nicest kid you'll ever meet.Which he has not got the mentality of a football player ,but he stills plays because me and his mom wants him to.He makes us so proud he is the best son a dad could ever have.I love that kid.

Manchester Chicken Broil

With threatning skies Manchester Michigan held its 57th annual Chicken Broil at the athletic fields of the high school. The volunteer firemen volunteer to set up and cook the chicken. It took 3100 cinder blocks to build 4 100 foot long barbecue pits, along with 3ooo pounds of charcoal. They used 19000 pounds of fresh chicken and 300 pounds of butter to baste the chicken.Coleslaw is also one of the special treats in the dinner that has its own special dressing which the used 400 gallons it along with 2 tons of fresh homegrown cabbage. All in all they will serve 12500 dinners thruout the day, some people will eat there and some will takeout. With a car show held at the broil, live music and the cottonwood cloggers perfoming its a wonderful event for the family to spend some time and enjoy the festivites and eat some fine chicken. This event grows ever year and we will be back again for the 58th broil.

farewell old Taurus

Well yesterday me and my wife went for a drive to look at a used car that was for sale. My wife's car is a 2000 Taurus with 234000 miles on it ,it has been a wonderful car but now its starting to have some problems. So I whip in the driveway to look at this car and put it in park, well the Taurus starts missing and the muffler gets loud and the car will barely idle.So we don't even look at the used car that we went to see and head back home, we just get in the driveway at home and white smoke starts rolling out from under the hood The next day I went and bought the used car we went to look at the day before, I got a really good deal on it a 2002 gran prix with 74000 miles on it. The TAURUS is on its way the the scrap yard for scrap, come to find out 2 of the 6 cylinders is not firing and the motor is toast ! I guess this turned out to be a blessing because Ive been looking for a couple of months for a car I could afford and my Taurus made it till the last day !

lacross

Today my son Joshua went off for 4 days to Adrian college for Lacross camp. This is put on by Nike. This is the fastest growing sport in the country,it looked like they had a lot of kids for this camp about 125 kids. The ages are from 11 to 17 years of age, if anyone has never seen the game it is fast and quite exciting. Its a cross between soccer and hockey, its more important to be fast and skillful, than big and tough. Hopefully Josh will learn some new skills and hone the old ones.He really loves this game as much as racing,if he can be half as good as he is a racer he will be a very good player.I already miss him and hes only been gone for a half a day! I sure love that little man !

off to school she gos

My daughter Chelsea just turned 10 years old and is entering 5th grade middle school this year. She was chosen to enter the head start program for school, which is a 2 week program that last 3 hours each day to introduce the students to some of the courses they will be taking. She is so excited about going to school, she loves to learn and be around her friends. I must say when I was a child going to school in the summer was diffently not on my list of things to do. It seems to me girls enjoy school a lot more than boys, dont you think?

weekend in Pa.

This past weekend we were in Pennsalvania racing go karts at Beaverun, the Jammer Clutchs Gold Cup Nationals. The weather was sunny and hot and the racing was very competitive We had 17 entries in our class with the best drivers in the country. Our Friday practice was horrible fighting a tight condition we were 3 seconds of the pace.Saturday we fought the same condition and managed to have a 8th place finish in the light class and a 9th place finish in the heavys.Sundays races we finally got the kart right but ended up getting run of the track in our feature races, finishing 8th and 11th in the race. It was a grueling weekend with the heat and the problems with the kart, but any day at the race track is better than a day at work! All in all our family had a great time and making precious memories is what its all about.

gold cup race

Here in my household we do many things. Today we are packing up and going to a National 4 cycle go kart race in Beaverun Pa. My son Joshua has been racing go karts since age 5,two weeks ago he turned 14. I just cant believe how the years fly by,I wish I could slow down the clock so I could enjoy every precous moment even more. But I will say packing for a 3 day trip is just a frustrating as packing for a 2 week trip. Now for me its a breeze throw some underwear, socks, shorts, shirts in a suitcase its really easy right. Well tell that to my wife and daughter, OMG tell that to them its a 12 hour job of arguing which outfit, what shoes,on and on and on.Why cant it be easy and quick, I mean I can be packed in less than 5 minutes, so can Joshua. Please Lord help me ! I just get so frustrated sometimes I just want to drive off and leave the girls behind ! Well that has never happened but it comes across my mind often, hopefully we will be on the road by 4 pm and we will be chipper and enjoying each other on this holiday weekend.

Great Tecumseh Campout

Sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 80s and low 90s greeted people attending the first Great Tecumseh Campout at the Cal Zorn Recreation Center. The days festivities were to be capped with fireworks and a bonfire at dark. There was about 30 campsites set up thru out the park on Saturday. There were several vendors selling elephant ears and funnel cakes, sausage and hot dogs. It was a wonderful day to relax and enjoy the day. Everyone attending the campout was invited to help paint the large mural set up near the campfire, there was also a pie eating contest,a three legged race, a wheel barrel race. At dark we had about a twenty minute firework show that was pretty awesome ! I hope next year will be bigger and the weather will be great !

trip to Georgia

Just last week me and my 2 kids went down to Colquitt Ga for a visit. While we were there my aunt came over . Her and mom started talking about when they were kids and some of the different terminology my grandparents had. Has anyone ever heard of a foot feed ? That is what they called a gas pedal on a car . How about a cooterhull ? That was a trunk in the car . Anyone heard of a haint , well back in the day the colored folks english wasnt so clear in the south . If they thought a house was haunted , they would say that house is hainted. Or instead or saying ghost , they would say haint . I thought this was some pretty neat stuff.

RAIN

Wow ! Can you believe our weather , more thunder storms. Rain , rain , rain ! Well it makes the grass real green , and Tall . I guess its time to fire up the mower !
